B.M. in Composition

Music Composition admission requirements:
Students applying for admission to the Music Composition program must perform an audition on their principal instrument (includes Voice) as outlined in the Required Undergraduate Audition Repertoire section of this website, submit a composition portfolio, complete a theory examination, and interview with Composition faculty.

The composition portfolio should consist of: 2-5 scores in PDF file format with links to accompanying YouTube/Vimeo videos of performances (live preferred, but MIDI realizations are acceptable), and a 1-2 page written statement of their composition interest, background, and goals in PDF or MS Word format.

Composition students auditioning live on-campus must submit their portfolio a minimum of two weeks prior to their audition. Composition students must review the note at the end of this box++ about Meadows submission and then upload their composition portfolio materials here.

Composition students submitting a recorded audition in lieu of a live audition must submit their portfolio by the Early Action/Decision deadline of November 1 or the Regular Decision deadline of January 15. Composition students must review the note at the end of this box++  about Meadows submission and then upload their composition portfolio materials in addition to their video audition recording when submitting their recorded audition submission.
