Alternative Breaks is a powerful week where students dig into a social issue, build leadership skills, and work alongside impactful organizations through immersive service and education.

Stampede Guides play a vital role in shaping the first impression of our newest students at SMU. Led by our Summer Orientation Leaders, this team is made up of enthusiastic, passionate student leaders who aren’t afraid to get hyped, lean into the silly, and bring energy to every moment of the welcome experience.

The Crain Emerging Leaders program is a leadership development opportunity for first-year, first semester students. In weekly meetings, you will explore on-campus leadership at SMU. Through hearing from guest speakers, hands-on activities, and discussions, you will learn about how your campus leadership experiences can prepare you to be a world changer.

Wellbeing Educators are a team of student leaders who help fellow Mustangs make informed, healthy choices across all areas of wellbeing, including mental health, relationships, nutrition, and substance use.

The Spiritual Life Mentors program places a dedicated mentor in each Residential Commons to support students’ holistic wellness by offering guidance, a listening ear, and opportunities to explore faith and spiritual life.

In this year-long program, you’ll level up your leadership and kickstart a passion project that makes a real impact on campus or in Dallas, backed by seed funding.
