WORK AUTHORIZATION REQUIREMENTS

U.S. work authorization is not required for most of these internship roles. However, if you are not authorized to work in the United States and receive and accept an offer, you must complete additional paperwork and a Canvas course through SMU's International Office before your start date. Internships offered through Broadway Dallas and The Infinite Agency require U.S. work authorization, as these organizations will provide direct, additional compensation to intern fellows.

INTERNSHIP START AND END DATE

Each internship offered through this fellowship program will begin on Monday, June 1 and end on Friday, August 7, 2026. Interns are expected to work fifteen hours per week for the entire ten weeks. (Internships offered by Broadway Dallas and at the Infinite Agency will require 30 hours per week of work.) Some internship opportunities may require limited weekend and night work. If applicable, that information will be provided to you during the internship offer period. If selected for the program, you will collaborate with your supervisor to develop a schedule that works for both you and the employer.

COMPENSATION

Intern fellows will receive a fixed stipend of $3,000 paid once through SMU Accounts Payable department (the rough equivalent of $20/hour for 150 hours of work.) Hours worked beyond 150 will be compensated in installments by the participating employer host organization at the rate of $20/hour.
