Attendance entries can be adjusted manually by the instructor at any time in the Records section of the Qwickly interface.

In Qwickly, the ‘Late’ status must be set to be the same across the entire institution regarding amount of time and percentage of full attendance. SMU does not have an institution-wide late policy; therefore, it is not implemented into Qwickly. Instructors can leave a comment on the individual attendance record for the student, and if attendance is connected to the Canvas gradebook, a manual points or percentage adjustment can be in the gradebook for that student.

No, the Qwickly Attendance app is for student use only. Instructors cannot use the Qwickly app to take attendance.

You may consider using the following pre-populated language on your Simple Syllabus for your students:

Attendance via Qwickly App

This course will use the Qwickly Attendance tool to record student attendance. You will be required to download and use the free Qwickly mobile app on your smartphone via Google Play or the App Store for Apple. At the beginning of each class session, you will be prompted to check in using the app. Your attendance record, as captured through Qwickly, will be used in accordance with the course's attendance policy. Please ensure your device is charged and the app is installed prior to our first class meeting."

If you choose not to use the language above, simply toggle the component on your Simple Syllabus to 'Invisible'

Yes. Qwickly provides downloadable CSV reports and in-dashboard summaries when you select Records in the Qwickly interface.

If your attendance records are being reported to the wrong semester, it is usually because Qwickly Attendance was launched before the reporting semester was updated for your course. To correct this, navigate to Qwickly and click Settings in the navigation menu. Review the Semester dropdown. If needed, select the correct semester and save your changes. Qwickly Attendance will then associate your course with the selected reporting semester.

Close all Qwickly windows and relaunch from Canvas once more.

If the Qwickly Attendance App is installed, scanning the code with a generic camera app or a QR reader will automatically launch the installed Qwickly Attendance App. Search for Southern Methodist University (if prompted) and initiate the secure check-in process. However, because the QR code refreshes after a certain period, it is possible that by the time you complete your log in, the code may have already expired. As a result, you might see a notification indicating that the QR code is no longer valid. In this case, you will be required to scan a new QR code to proceed with the login process successfully.

If the Qwickly Attendance App is not installed, the code will redirect the student to the appropriate application store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). This ensures a seamless path to download the necessary official application, preventing frustration and verifying that the user acquires the legitimate software.

Note: The Qwickly system relies on Canvas for user authentication. Before scanning an attendance QR code, you must first log into Canvas at least once. This initial step is necessary to link your device session to your official student profile, authorizing the subsequent check-in via the mobile app.
