eMinor Declaration Process

You now have the option to declare a minor entirely within my.SMU! This option is available to undergraduate students who are currently in an active program and have not been approved for graduation. Here's how to get started:

Submitting an eMinor Declaration Form

  1. Select Academics in your my.SMU Student Dashboard.
  2. Screenshot of the Minor Declaration tile within the student homepage in my.SMU.Click the Minor Declaration.
  3. You will be presented with the Add a Minor eForm page. Your current program information and applicable student groups (student athlete, international, etc.) will appear on this page.
  4. To add a minor, click the toggle switch next to the Add option. Confirm that the switch now says Yes.
  5. New Minor section will now appear on the page. Click the Search icon in the text box to begin searching for a minor.
  6. Click on the Search Criteria link to search for a minor. Click on the minor you wish to declare. You will then be returned to the form.
  7. Click Submit.

Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation screen and a confirmation e-mail. You will also receive e-mail notification when your form is approved.

Removing a Minor

You can also remove a minor from your program using this form.

  1. Navigate to the eForm with the instructions above.
  2. Instead of clicking the Add switch, click the Remove switch. Confirm that the switch now says Yes.
  3. In the Minor field, click the Search icon. You should see a list of your active minors. Click on the minor you wish to remove.
  4. Click Submit.
