Building Surveys in Qualtrics

QualtricsQualtrics is a powerful and easy-to-use web-based system that allows you to create engaging surveys for everything from small informal surveys to major research initiatives. This introduction to Qualtrics will walk you through building a basic survey, changing the way the survey is displayed for respondents, and how to share the survey with your respondent pool.

Adobe Acrobat IconAdobe Acrobat Basics

Adobe Acrobat is installed on almost every computer on campus, and you probably use it to view PDF files every day. Have you ever wanted to know more about what Acrobat can do? In this two-hour hands-on course, you'll learn more about creating PDF files, editing and formatting files, publication methods, and the basics on creating your own online forms. We will also cover why PDFs are a useful file format and different use cases for them. Length: 2 Hours

InDesignCreating Documents with Adobe InDesign

This class will be an introduction to using Adobe InDesign to create documents, posters, and PDFs. Attendees will learn the basics of how to create a new document, adjust columns and margins, import text, place images, and finally export the document to PDF to share with others.

Sitecore Basics for Content Editors

Are you responsible for updating information on existing SMU web pages but don't know where to start? This session covers the basics of creating a web page from scratch within the Sitecore Content Management System. You will also learn how to work with links, images, and formatting of existing pages.

Advanced Sitecore

Do you want to give your Sitecore pages that little something extra? Sitecore, SMU’s Web Content Management System, does a lot of the work in creating your pages, but sometimes it needs a little wrangling to get it to shine. This class will cover how to spice up those pages by editing the CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets, and HTML. We will also look at using widgets to present content in different ways.

Career Readiness with Microsoft Office Certifications

During the 2017–2018 academic year, SMU’s Office of Information Technology will be providing access to the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Exams for free to current students. Get certified and stand out among other candidates for those upcoming internships and job interviews next spring.

This 30 min info session will walk you through the process of how to get started, where to get practice exams, and what to expect on the exams. You’ll also learn how to promote your certifications on Linked In and share digital transcripts with potential employers.

These info sessions will be located in the Hughes-Trigg Forum on Wednesday, October 18. Sessions will take place at 12:45 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:15 p.m.
