OIT Quarterly Security Update: October 2026 Edition

Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Hi Mustangs,

It’s October, and that means Cybersecurity Awareness Month is here! This year, OIT Security is turning up the fun with spooky challenges, games, and puzzles. Instead of just reading about security, you’ll get to play along — solving weekly Wordles, escaping a Haunted AI, locking down your privacy, spotting scams in disguise, and wrapping it all up at our in-person Cyber Fair.

Every activity you complete earns points, and the more points you collect, the bigger the prize you can win. Prizes are unlocked in three tiers:

  • 🍬 Cyber Treats (10+ points)
  • 🛡️ Ghoul Guards (30+ points)
  • 🧟 Zero-Trust Zombies (60+ points)

The first challenge launches October 6 — can you outsmart the Haunted AI? Keep an eye on your inbox for details… if you dare.

🎃 Save the Date: Cyber Fair — October 29, Moody Atrium

Celebrate the finale of Cybersecurity Awareness Month with us! The fair will feature hands-on booths covering everything from phishing awareness to online safety and multifactor authentication, plus food, giveaways, and the chance to earn Wellpower points. Check in on site to collect points toward prizes — and carve out time to leave with tips (and treats!) you can use on campus and at home.
