Microsoft Copilot is a powerful AI tool that integrates with the Microsoft 365 suite. 

There are two version of Copilot in use at SMU: Copilot Chat and Microsoft Copilot 365. 

Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat is a powerful assistant designed to enhance productivity by providing quick and accurate information, answering questions, and engaging in meaningful conversations. It seamlessly integrates with your Microsoft 365 environment (online) to help you stay organized, informed, and efficient. This version is available to all Faculty and Staff through our license agreement. 

With Microsoft 365 Copilot, you can use AI directly in the Microsoft products you already use, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. In Teams, it can summarize meetings, highlight action items, and provide transcripts. In Excel, Copilot can analyze data, generate formulas, create visualizations, and even suggest insights. In Outlook, it can search your mail, draft emails, and more. It’s designed to help users be more productive, creative, and efficient by leveraging advanced AI capabilities, including natural language understanding and generation.  This requires an annual fee per user.  SMU is currently providing a limited number of licenses for faculty and staff as part of the AI Operation Bootcamp Training program.
