Kunyi Han
Ph.D. student, Biostatistics
Research Interests: Kunyi’s research interests lie at the intersection of high-dimensional statistics, machine learning, and biostatistics, particularly in developing robust methods to analyze complex biological data. She is interested in areas such as high-dimensional data analysis, genetic regulation, and modeling complex diseases to uncover underlying biological mechanisms. Additionally, she is eager to explore the integration of modern machine learning in biomedicine, aiming to bridge artificial intelligence with statistics by providing theoretical guarantees and enhancing model interpretability.
Road to the Moody School: Kunyi graduated as an Outstanding Graduate with a B.S. in statistics from Beijing Normal University and earned an M.S. in statistics and data science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During her studies, she engaged in biostatistical research analyzing complex biomedical data, where she solidified her passion for research and decided to pursue her Ph.D. at Southern Methodist University. In her free time, she enjoys exploring new hobbies and is currently learning to solve chess puzzles, play the acoustic guitar, and play tennis.
