Zerui "Jerry" Ma

Research Interests: Zerui “Jerry” Ma’s research interest is quantum machine learning. Zerui aims to apply quantum computing in the field of machine learning, especially to leverage quantum advantage in the NISQ era to solve pressing problems in optimization.

Road to the Moody School: At SMU, Zerui graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a Bachelor of Science in Data Science, a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Computer Science. His sustained academic excellence has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Robert Mayer Undergraduate Research Fellowship, the Carrie and Edwin Mouzon Mathematics Scholarship, the SMU Discovery Scholarship, the SMU Distinguished Scholarship and the Khotanzad Graduate Support Scholarship. Zerui serves as the Recording Officer of the SMU IEEE HKN Chapter and the President of the SMU Artificial Intelligence Club.
