Biography
My research focuses on American literature in the Nineteenth Century with an emphasis on print culture and multi-ethnic literatures. In particular, my work considers how race, gender, and sexuality were constructed in life-writing archives, such as diaries, letters, and other forms of print, as well as in the fiction of the period. By bringing together these personal and public texts, I aim to recover the work and narratives of non-elite writers.
