The Center for Teaching Excellence offers a number of various programs, workshops and events throughout the year.
Semester Events -- Events that support and connect faculty members. Includes: Teaching Thursdays, Faculty Grading Break, etc.
Teaching Topics -- Teaching ideas, hands-on workshops, and topical debates designed for all members of the SMU teaching community. Find inspiration or add a new tool to your teaching repertoire.
New Faculty Teaching Excellence Program (NFTE) -- a nifty year-long program of monthly workshops designed to equip new faculty members with the basic building blocks of effective and efficient teaching.
Teaching Effectiveness Symposium
-- start the school year off with a half-day program specifically designed for both beginning teachers and their mentors. This annual program includes Orientation for new faculty as well as workshops on teaching methods and spotlights on innovative teaching practices.
New Faculty Orientation -- a series of breakout sessions at the start of the year designed to provide new faculty with the information necessary for a successful start to the semester.
TA Training -- Graduate Teaching Assistants receive training on teaching methods, TA duties, university policies, and advice about balancing the roles of teacher and student.
Additional Programs -- This section highlights current programs and archived materials from those offered in the past. Including: New Faculty Teaching Excellence Program, Symposia, etc.
