Research Interests:
Anarzhan studies Computational and Applied Mathematics. Her research focuses on developing data-driven algorithms that efficiently reconstruct material properties in lossless and lossy media using model reduction, numerical linear algebra, and high-performance computing. She is also interested in large-scale numerical methods, parallel computing, and machine learning techniques for scientific applications.
Road to the Moody School:
Born and raised in Kazakhstan, Anarzhan earned both her B.S. in Physics with minors in Mathematics and World Languages, Literature, and Culture and her M.S. in Physics from Nazarbayev University. Before beginning her Ph.D. at Southern Methodist University, she worked at Alstom, where she managed engineering documentation for industrial production. At SMU, she has received the Provost's Summer Research Grant, and the Research & Innovation Week Graduate Poster Award. Her research has resulted in peer-reviewed publications, invited conference presentations, and the development of novel reduced-order modeling techniques for inverse scattering problems.
