International Education Week 2026

The International Office is looking forward to International Education Week (IEW) 2026, November 16th-20th! IEW celebrates our abundant global community here at SMU, and highlights the impact that global curriculum opportunities, study abroad, international scholars, and cross-cultural engagement have on how our students learn, connect, and grow as global citizens.

This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is an effort to promote programs that expands U.S. students worldly view, and attract future leaders abroad to study, learn, and share experiences.

Get Involved With your Global Community

SMU is excited to engage our community in this national celebration that connects us with the Dallas community and beyond.

All SMU faculty, staff, students, departments, and organizations are invited to submit an event proposal for IEW Week. This is your opportunity to showcase your ideas on how SMU can engage with the world.

Events can be student-focused, employee-focused, or community-focused, and can feature professional and social development themes toward connecting with the world through international collaboration and exchange. Sessions that share cultural celebrations, previous international experiences, or opportunities to access international experiences are encouraged. In-person, virtual or hybrid event options are welcome.

The priority deadline to submit a proposal is October 15th. Final deadline is October 23rd.
