Writing and Reasoning Program

The Common Curriculum Writing and Reasoning (WRTR) sequence courses are preparatory for learning the skills of academic writing at the University. These small seminar classes involve reading, analytical writing, discussion and application of critical reasoning in response to texts and issues on a variety of subjects. These courses teach students how to competently read, write, and think critically at the college level. The seminars also emphasize the skills of critical reasoning and research-based analytical writing to help students become well-informed citizens of the world.

The Department of English houses the Writing and Reasoning program. Faculty from the WRTR also staff the Writing Center, a component of the Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center.
