Jacob Hord

Jacob Hord at an Organ

Jacob Hord

Jacob Hord serves as the organist for Cross of Christ Lutheran Church and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance from Southern Methodist University. Growing up in Plano Texas, Jacob found his passion for music through hearing the Dallas Symphony Orchestra perform and from hearing the organ in church. At SMU, Jacob performs with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and World Music Ensemble. During his time at SMU, Jacob has become an active freelancer as both a percussionist and as an organist and hopes to pursue a career working for an orchestra and serving in a church. In 2017, Jacob spent the summer touring the country with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps and in 2019, attended the Brevard Music Center where he was selected as a winner of the Jan and Beattie Wood Concerto Competition. Along with music, Jacob is passionate about long distance running, road biking, Christianity and the Bible, and traveling the world experiencing different cultures, food, and musical traditions.
