VA Education Benefits

Using your VA Benefits at SMU

The US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) provides education benefits to eligible servicemembers, Veterans, and their dependents or survivors. The University Registrar's Office certifies enrollment and provides assistance for SMU students using VA educational benefits. Most academic programs at SMU qualify for VA educational benefits, making an SMU education accessible and affordable.

In order to receive educational benefits from VA, students must apply for benefits. VA will review the application to determine eligibility. You can learn more about VA's educational benefits and the application process by visiting va.gov's Education Benefits page or the VA's Education and Training page.

Note: SMU does not offer Hazelwood benefits; it is only offered through public institutions in Texas.
