Connect to eduroam (Android devices)

While these steps may vary depending on the mobile device manufacturer, the settings below can be used as a template to configure eduroam on most Android devices.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Open Wi-Fi (often found under the Network connections section).
  3. Select eduroam from the list of available wireless networks.
  4. Select PEAP for EAP method.
  5. Select MSCHAPV2 for Phase 2 Authentication.
  6. Select Use System Certificates for CA certificate.
  7. Select TLS v1.2 for Minimum TLS Version
  8. Select Request Certificate Status for Online Certificate Status
  9. Enter smu.edu or your institution's domain in the Domain field.
  10. Enter your email address ending with your institution's domain name @smu.edu in Identity.
    1. Examples: @smu.edu, @utd.edu, etc.
  11. Leave Anonymous Identity blank or delete any entry in this field.
  12. Enter your institution's account password in Enter Password.
  13. Tap Connect/Save.

**Note: If your device does not ask for some of the items above, you may safely skip entering the particular items.
