Rogers Healy (B.A. ’03) is this week’s featured alum in our new Alumni Spotlight series for the This Week at Meadows e-newsletter. Each week, a different Meadows alum will be highlighted for their accomplishments post-graduation.

For Meadows alum Rogers Healy, success in business has always been rooted in creativity, connection and the power of storytelling. Since graduating from the advertising program, Healy has built a dynamic career spanning real estate and venture capital, most recently as the founder and CEO of Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners.

Healy credits his time at SMU with shaping the mindset that continues to guide his approach to branding, investing and leadership. His experience at Meadows introduced him to the psychology behind effective communication, an insight that remains central to his work today.

“I use it every single day, whether I’m meeting with a founder, closing an investor, or walking into a pitch meeting,” says Healy. “The classroom looked a lot different than a boardroom, but the fundamentals were the same. To me, there’s no better unique difference than taking a creative approach to business, and Meadows gave me that edge.”

Healy began building his career while still a student, earning his real estate license at age 20. He went on to found Rogers Healy and Associates, growing it into one of the most recognizable real estate brands in Texas. Alongside that success, he began investing in emerging companies, initially as a passion project that would ultimately reshape his career.

“What really lit me up was something I was doing quietly on the side the whole time: investing in brands I believed in,” he explains. “I loved watching leaders evolve and I loved helping people find confidence.”

That passion eventually led to the launch of Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners in 2022. Named after musicians Van Morrison, Jim Morrison, and Bob Seger, the firm reflects Healy’s belief in bold ideas and individuality. Since its founding, Morrison Seger has backed more than 150 companies, including Waterloo Sparkling Water, Tiff’s Treats, Oats Overnight, G.O.A.T. Fuel, and more, building a portfolio valued at over $100 million. At the core of the firm’s work is a commitment to supporting founders who are creating meaningful, lasting brands.

After years of success in real estate, Healy made the decision to sell his brokerage and focus fully on venture capital. The move allowed him to concentrate his energy on the work he found most meaningful, continuing to build on the storytelling and marketing instincts he developed at Meadows.

“Real estate gave me an incredible run, and I’m grateful for every chapter,” Healy says of his decision to pivot in his career. “When you find something that combines your experience, your network, and your purpose, you go all in. That’s what Morrison Seger is for me.”

Healy remains deeply connected to SMU and the Dallas community, frequently working with and investing in fellow Mustangs. He sees the region as a hub for entrepreneurial growth and encourages students to take advantage of the opportunities around them. His journey, from a nontraditional student to a successful entrepreneur and investor, reflects the value of diving into the work and learning through experience.

Today, Healy continues to build on that momentum with Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners, supporting founders who are creating the next generation of consumer brands. With a foundation rooted in creative thinking and a career defined by bold decision-making, he remains focused on investing in ideas, and people, that have the power to make a lasting impact.
