Senior Spotlight: Jess Silverstein

As the Spring 2026 semester comes to a close, we are spotlighting graduating seniors across Meadows as they reflect on their time at SMU and look ahead to their post-graduation journey.

The first senior in our series is fashion media major Jess Silverstein, who is graduating with minors in business, advertising and Italian.

“As part of the program, I have been able to gain access to incredible opportunities in and out of the classroom,” Silverstein says. “The Fashion Media department provides professional development, from the professors and their incredible backgrounds to the guest speakers and programs to the internships and work opportunities. From panel speakers, an internship at Stanley Korshak, and a directed study with Professor Davis, I have loved every minute here.”

During her time at SMU, Silverstein has worked as a student worker at Meadows, assisting the Meadows Marketing team with social media content production. She credits this work opportunity for her appreciation for content creation and has enjoyed capturing behind-the-scenes moments and including her peers in Meadows’ social media efforts.

Silverstein has also led a vibrant extracurricular life while at SMU. She serves as the current president of the SMU Water Ski Team, a member of Alpha Chi Omega and Alpha Kappa Psi and has been involved in student ministries. Additionally, she has served as part of the Student Union, a prestigious group of student leaders selected by SMU’s Office of Development and External Affairs for their outstanding leadership and philanthropic characteristics demonstrated on campus.

“I have loved my time at SMU and Meadows, and cannot believe my chapter here is coming to a close,” Silverstein says.

She is grateful for the courses, professors and SMU alumni that played a part in preparing her for an internship at Burlington in New York City last summer, and will return full time as an Assistant Buyer in August.

“Living out my childhood dreams thanks to the incredible education provided by SMU and SMU Meadows, I am overjoyed. My time in the program has prepared me for my career in NYC and inspired my fashion dreams.”

We look forward to seeing where Jess Silverstein’s path in fashion media will take her!
