Violaine Barthélémy Mwez

Violaine Barthélémy Mwez is a first-year Ph.D. student in Art History at SMU. She received her M.A. in Art History and Museum Studies and B.A. in Art History and Archaeology, both from the École du Louvre in Paris, France. Before coming to SMU, Barthélémy Mwez worked as a Gallery Assistant at Galerie Chenel in Paris, a commercial gallery specializing in Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquities. Most recently, she held the role of Provenance Researcher for the ancient Mediterranean collection at the Dallas Museum of Art. Her research interests include the history of excavations and collections and the reception of Mediterranean antiquities, with particular attention to the art market and the questions of provenance.
