Christine Burger

Christine Burger is a Ph.D. candidate at SMU. Her dissertation on the 1970s box-sculpture by American artist Dorothy Iannone is the first scholarly research project on the artist who is often reduced to issues of censorship or her relationship to Dieter Roth. Burger’s research interest lies in explicit (female) sexuality in modern and contemporary art. She received her B.A. in art history from University of Zürich and her M.A. in Arts and Culture, as well as Media Studies, from Leiden University in the Netherlands. Burger has held curatorial positions at Fondation Beyeler in Switzerland and the Dallas Museum of Art. She continues to curate exhibitions in cultural centers and off-spaces in Dallas with early career artist.
