Arvid Nelsen

Arvid Nelsen is a Ph.D. student in Art History, concurrently serving as the Curator of Rare Books & Manuscripts at SMU’s Bridwell Library, where he provides numerous course-integrated presentation for SMU and groups from the greater DFW metro. He received his B.A. in Greek and Latin from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and master’s degrees in Classics and in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Nelsen provides reference and research assistance to scholars worldwide. He actively served in the Rare Books & Manuscripts Section of ACRL/ALA, chairing the Seminars and Conference Program committees, and the Section, and RBMS as a whole, among other roles. His interests span Greek and Roman rhetoric, the history of books and printing, and modern and contemporary artists’ books and prints. His research focus is on the application of traditional printing methods in modern and contemporary art.
