Vaccine

Currently, the Health Center offers the following COVID-19 vaccines for current students, as well as employees and their spouses/dependents:

  • First and second doses for Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson
  • Additional doses for individuals who are immunocompromised
  • Booster doses for Pfizer, Moderna and J&J

Boosters are now available at the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center for all three U.S. COVID-19 vaccines – Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

In addition, the CDC approved “mixing and matching” shots, which allows eligible individuals to choose which vaccine they receive for their booster even if it is different from their original vaccine.

Currently, boosters are recommended for the following groups:

  • For individuals 18+ who received a Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at 6 months or more after their primary series:
  • For individuals who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are:
    • Age 18+
    • who were vaccinated two or more months ago.

We highly recommend consulting with a healthcare provider if you have questions about your risks from COVID-19 and whether a booster dose would be beneficial.

All current students, SMU employees and their eligible spouse/dependents can book a vaccination appointment through our health portal (button below) or by calling the Dr. Bob Smith Health Center at 214-768-2141 (option 1).
