Michael Lively

Lecturer in Music Theory

Michael Lively holds a Ph.D. in music theory from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree in conducting from Texas State University. He has presented at a number of regional and international conferences in subject areas such as music theory pedagogy, musical narratology and Beethoven sketch study. His publications include articles in the Journal of Music Theory Pedagogy (2005), Inquiry (2015), College Music Symposium (2016), and Music Educator’s Journal (2017). Lively was previously a visiting assistant professor of music theory at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) in Denton, Texas.
