SMU Ring Ceremony: April 26, 2026
The SMU ring is a cherished tradition that celebrates students’ personal achievements and marks an important educational milestone. Students will receive their rings in the spring at the SMU Ring Ceremony. Family and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate their student at the event where President Jay C. Hartzell will deliver remarks celebrating the recipients’ accomplishments, hard work and bond with the Hilltop.
Eligibility
Any undergraduate student who has achieved the required 60-plus credit hours and graduate students who have completed their first year are eligible to purchase a ring. Students may choose to participate in the ring ceremony in the spring of either their junior or senior year.
Dates and deadlines to remember:
- February 18–19, 2026 and March 4, 2026: A Balfour representative will be on campus from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. in the Hughes-Trigg Student Center atrium. Students can try on rings in person and place their orders.
- March 5, 2026: A Balfour representative will be on campus at the Passport to Alumni Event from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Dallas Hall Flag Pole. Students can try on rings in person and place their orders.
- March 6, 2026: Last day to order a class ring before the Ring Ceremony/May Commencement.
- April 26, 2026: SMU Ring Ceremony – visit the registration page for event details.

Who should attend the Ring Ceremony?
Friends and family of the ring recipient are encouraged to attend.
I am not a senior. Why am I being invited to purchase a ring and attend the Ring Ceremony?
Any undergraduate student who has achieved the required 60-plus credit hours and any graduate student who has completed their first year is eligible to purchase a ring. In this case, there are students who are eligible to purchase rings as juniors. It is completely up to each student when they decide to purchase their ring. Please note that the Ring Ceremony only takes place during the spring term, so factor this into your decision.
I graduate in December. Can I still attend the spring Ring Ceremony after I graduate?
Absolutely! Because we only host ring ceremonies during the spring term, we highly encourage any December graduate to come back and join us for the Ring Ceremony to celebrate this important milestone.
When is the last day I can order a ring in time for the Ring Ceremony?
March 6, 2026 is the last day you can place your order for guaranteed delivery for the 2026 SMU Ring Ceremony.
I cannot attend the Ring Ceremony. Can I pick up my ring before the ceremony?
No. To keep the significance and importance of the ceremony intact for students wishing to attend, you are unable to pick up your ring before the ceremony. If you cannot attend the ceremony, you will receive instructions after the ceremony on how to pick up your ring.
My ring size is incorrect/does not fit the way it should. What should I do?

How do I order my ring?
Students have the option to purchase their ring from a Balfour representative during Ring Days or directly online here. Please keep in mind that March 6, 2026 is the last day you can place your order for guaranteed delivery for the 2026 Ring Ceremony.
