When Mustangs reach the 50-year anniversary of their SMU graduation, they ascend to the status of Golden Mustang. Each May, a new class of Golden Mustangs is welcomed during Commencement. The once-in-a-lifetime tradition is called Golden Reunion Weekend. Designed to be an epic celebration and a memorable experience, the weekend includes special campus tours, participation in the Commencement ceremony and the Golden Mustangs pinning ceremony.

9 A.M. | Garry Weber End Zone Complex Discussion – Film Room at Loyd All-Sports Center
Hear from Rick Hart, SMU’s director of Athletics, about the future of SMU Athletics and the Garry Weber End Zone Complex, the exciting new three-level, 192,500-square-foot expansion of Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
10:30 A.M. | George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum Tour
Celebrate the 10th anniversary of the George W. Bush Presidential Center with admission to its newest exhibit, Freedom Matters. David J. Kramer, executive director of the George W. Bush Institute, will welcome the class in advance of the tour.
12:15 P.M. | Light lunch – Palmer Conference Center at Caruth Hall $15/person
12:40 P.M. | Planned Giving at SMU Discussion – Palmer Conference Center at Caruth Hall
Hear from Tim Aronson, executive director of gift planning, on creative ways to get involved with the exciting things happening at SMU.
1:15 P.M. | Deason Innovation Gym Tour – Caruth Hall
Explore the Lyle School of Engineering’s Deason Innovation Gym, where patrons of all disciplines and backgrounds are encouraged to realize their ideas by gaining access to the tools and space necessary to create beyond the boundaries of traditional classrooms.
2:15 P.M. | Edwin L. Cox School of Business Renovation Hard Hat Tour
Join Dean Matthew Myers on a private tour and be one of the first to see SMU’s progress on the two-year, $140 million renovation and expansion project for the Edwin L. Cox School of Business.
3:30 P.M. | Meadows School of the Arts Renovation Tour
View the historic transformation of the visual arts facilities at SMU Meadows School of the Arts, led by Dean Sam Holland.
4 P.M. | President’s Welcome and Reception – Meadows School of the Arts
Enjoy a private gathering with SMU’s president, Dr. R. Gerald Turner, as he welcomes the Class of 1973 back to the Hilltop for this historic weekend. Reception to follow.

8:30 A.M. | 108th SMU Commencement Ceremony – Moody Coliseum
Participate in the once-in-a-lifetime Golden Reunion tradition of walking in procession with SMU’s graduating Class of 2023 during its official Commencement ceremony. Golden Mustang regalia and commemorative stoles will be provided to attendees. Seating will be available but limited; more details to come.
11:30 A.M. | Celebrate ’73 Class Luncheon – George W. Bush Institute
Golden Mustang pins will be presented during this seated lunch to symbolize your induction into the esteemed group of individuals celebrating more than 50 years as alumni. $40/person
6 P.M. | Class of ’73 Reunion Dinner and Dance – The Dallas Arboretum
Rosine Hall, Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden 8525 Garland Road. The weekend culminates with a memorable class party featuring entertainment, dinner and drinks at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. $75/person
