From the President

Spring on the Hilltop brings a sense of renewal and growth. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, the future of SMU looks brighter than ever before. Our SMU Ignited campaign has now raised over $991 million toward our ambitious $1.5 billion goal, including over 4,000 donors who gave more than $5.1 million to vital causes during our annual SMU Giving Day. In this issue, you’ll learn about these and other gifts to empower student success, establish new additions to the University, and create a lasting impact that stretches far beyond the Hilltop.

Advancing excellence in engineering, a $20 million gift from Mustang parents Mary and Richard Templeton will support the Lyle School of Engineering by naming the school’s dean position and fueling graduate student research and education. At the Cox School of Business, the renovation and expansion project is making steady progress. In just over a year, the school’s new and renovated facilities will fuel learning and collaboration in spaces made possible entirely by our donors.

We invite dedicated Mustang Athletics fans to get involved in the second phase of the fundraising drive for the Garry Weber End Zone Complex at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, where construction is also underway. The project furthers our investment in the excellence of Mustang student-athletes and the experiences of our football fans.

This spring will mark 10 years of the George W. Bush Presidential Center bringing visitors from across the globe to our campus. We look forward to celebrating a decade of educational resources, collaborative opportunities, and open discussions about some of society’s most pressing issues.

From welcoming new administrative leaders to celebrating the expansion of our research endeavors and scholarship offerings, innovation and growth are apparent across SMU’s campus.
