Chrissy Crawford Corredor (B.A. ’02) is this week’s featured alum in our new Alumni Spotlight series for the This Week at Meadows e-newsletter. Each week, a different Meadows alum will be highlighted for their accomplishments post-graduation.

Chrissy Crawford Corredor, a graduate of the art history program at Meadows, is the founder and CEO of ArtStar, an e-commerce platform for discovering and collecting contemporary art. When she noticed that many art collectors did not have the time or resources to collect through traditional brick and mortar galleries, but also wanted to avoid generic wall décor from box stores, Crawford Corredor founded ArtStar to bridge that gap.

The company, which now carries work from over 160 artists worldwide with price points ranging from $150-$14,000, was one of the first online galleries selling a curated selection of limited-edition photography, fine art prints and original paintings. ArtStar has worked with top brands like the Palms Casino in Vegas, Aria Resort, and Far Fetch's New York HQ to build art collections that pop. The training she received in the art history program allows Crawford Corredor to expertly evaluate new work and make informed choices when looking for more artists to add to ArtStar. In addition to her art history education, Crawford Corredor also cites her senior year internship with Meadows Museum as a catalyst for her career.

“The hands-on experience with a world class museum collection and behind-the-scenes access gave me a head start to a career in art,” she explains. “There are so many extraordinary opportunities right now for Art History majors, and it's best to learn through work experience.”

Inspired by her valuable experience at the Meadows Museum, Crawford Corredor is paying it forward by offering a summer internship with ArtStar to Meadows art history majors. Interns assist with researching prospective clients, coordinating outreach with the ArtStar sales team, and are even given an opportunity to create their own project which they present at the end of the summer.
