Future criminal justice leaders don't just study reform—they help shape it.
The Deason Center is proud to welcome James Bruner, the Center's newest Criminal Justice Law Scholar, and summer law clerk Sam Marcrum.
Through the Criminal Justice Law Scholarship and the Deason Center's summer law clerk program, students gain firsthand experience addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing the criminal legal system while pursuing their legal education.
Working alongside Deason Center staff Bruner and Marcrum will support research, policy and litigation projects while gaining firsthand exposure to criminal legal systems across the country. Last week, they joined Deason Center Policy Director Malia Brink and Day One Campaign Director David Anderson in Oklahoma to observe initial appearances and arraignments in several local courtrooms.
Please join us in welcoming James and Sam to the Deason Center. Follow our page to learn more about their work and the Center's student programs.
