Student supervises interactive games and displays for NFL Experience
Brett Haness of Orange County, Calif., who is majoring in finance in SMU's Cox School of Business and minoring in sport management in the University's Simmons School of Education and Human Development, talks about volunteering at the NFL Experience at the Dallas Convention Center:
I got connected with the opportunity through the sport management program at SMU. I volunteered last semester at the Texas State Fair to help out with the North Texas Super Bowl program. That's when I found out about this opportunity to help out with the NFL Experience.
My title is an area manager, and I manage and supervise interactive games and displays for the NFL Experience at the Dallas Convention Center. The whole thing pretty much is dependent on volunteers, and I help explain to them what their role is and how to work each game/display. I also help make sure operations run smoothly.
My reaction at first was shocked at how much work goes into the NFL Experience. The thing is massive. It's like Disneyland, but for the NFL.
Sometimes 50,000 people come through the doors on a given day. It's a great thing to be a part of and it's a lot of fun. You don't get a chance to help out with a Super Bowl too often.
