From celebrations at the heart of the Hilltop to those showcasing their Mustang spirit around the world, the SMU community is experiencing a bold and exciting new era, filled with the undeniable momentum, energy and ambitious vision that are generating vast accomplishments and demonstrated success.
The shared passion for SMU is evident in the caliber of our students and the expanding interest of potential students across the country, driven by the uniqueness of our learning and teaching environment as well as the personalized approach to education that sets students up for a lifetime of success.
SMU has already introduced two new undergraduate degree programs, which are designed to prepare students for careers in diverse fields and emerging industries. Top students are recognizing how different and relevant an SMU education is. This year, the University received more than 25,000 first-year applications for the class of 2030, the highest in our history. As SMU continues to advance among the nation’s top urban universities, we are excited to empower bright young minds to become well-rounded, principled leaders who tackle the world’s most important challenges.

Our community has taken note of the changes and the strategic work to date. Our donors set a new record for philanthropic commitments in a year, showcasing their tremendous generosity with some of the largest gifts in our history, including:
- A landmark investment from the O’Donnell Foundation to establish the Energy Science, Innovation and Enterprise program and create the O’Donnell Academic Honors Fund.
- A game-changing gift, totaling $50 million, to support the Student-Athlete Benefit Fund and establish the Boulevard Society, a dynamic new giving society that will invest in the long-term success of SMU Athletics.
