CPA exam passage rates of SMU students have increased over the years. For MSA graduates in particular the rate increased from 55% for 2014 graduates to 71% for the 2015 graduates. The increase could be attributed to the introduction of a separate calendar and class of Becker for MSA students. Most MSA students enroll for Becker (a top CPA exam review firm http://www.becker.com/ ) review classes. The MSA program now has segregated classes for its students arranged in a calendar worked out by Becker’s review session teacher and the Director of MSA program. This sets the content delivery and exam timing in such a way that it maximizes the student’s likelihood of success.
Music Therapy majors in the Meadows School of the Arts take the Music Therapy Board Certification Exam offered by the Certification Board of Music Therapists (CMBT). SMU graduates scored higher than the national average in all four sections of the exam and had a perfect passage rate overall for the years 2011 to 2015.
