Forbes ranks SMU among nation's most-entrepreneurial universities

Southern Methodist has been ranked at No. 14 on Forbes’ list of “Startup Schools: America’s Most Entrepreneurial Universities 2015.”

Southern Methodist has been ranked at No. 14 on Forbes’ list of “Startup Schools: America’s Most Entrepreneurial Universities 2015.”

The Dallas university was joined on the list by the University of Texas at Austin which came in at No. 22 in the Top 50.

Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were Nos. 1 and 2 on the list that ranked universities by the numbers of alumni and students who have identified themselves as founders or business owners on LinkedIn.

At SMU, “An art-entrepreneurship program is geared toward increasing the chances of making a living in the arts,” Forbes said.

It’s the latest recognition for SMU from rankings. The university was ranked No. 108 by Forbes in it recent ranking of the top U.S. colleges and it was ranked No. 142 in the world in the recent ranking of the top 200 universities in the world, according to the Center for World University Rankings.
