Letter of Invitation to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The letter of invitation to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. from the SMU Student Senate, inviting him to speak at the University.

The following two-page letter of invitation was sent to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by then-SMU Student Senate Vice President Bert Moore on behalf of the Student Senate on August 4, 1965. Dr. King spoke at SMU on March 17, 1966. Moore is now dean of the University of Texas at Dallas School of Behavioral & Brain Sciences and the Aage and Margareta Moller Distinguished Professor there.
