SMU students, administrators, faculty and staff have created a video in support of the national “It’s On Us” campaign to raise awareness of sexual assault and violence. Watch the video here.

The It’s On Us National Week of Action is Nov. 17-21, with events planned at universities across the country.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, the SMU Women’s Interest Network is leading Take Back the Night, a university-wide event to raise awareness of sexual violence. The event begins at 8 p.m. in SMU's Hughes-Trigg Student Center.

On Sunday, November 16, SMU Peer Health Educators hosted an It’s On Us pledge-signing table during the Women’s Basketball game against UTEP. Students, faculty and staff who signed the It’s On Us pledge received an It’s On Us T-shirt.

The White House campaign’s pledge can be signed online at ItsOnUs.org. It asks participants to:

  • Recognize that non-consensual sex is sexual assault.

  • Identify situations in which sexual assault may occur.

  • Intervene in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.

  • Create an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.
