Texas cookbook one sweet read

"Sweet on Texas", a Texas-dessert cookbook by SMU public information officer Denise Gee, is nicely reviewed.

When writer Denise Gee decided to take on Texas desserts for her third cookbook, she knew she faced a daunting task.
 
“I felt like people would be paying close attention,” Gee says. “I better get this right.”
 
The result is “Sweet on Texas: Lovable Confections From the Lone Star State” (Chronicle Books, 24.95), a delectable trove of Texan sweets....

Gee, a public information officer for Southern Methodist University, often used her colleagues as guinea pigs. One of their sessions led to the discussion of the proper name for Texas Sheet — or Sheath — Cake, which she touches on in the book....
