Regarding travel to the SMU campus Thursday

SMU, which is open on Thursday, has sent the following messages to students, faculty and staff regarding concerns about travel to campus.

SMU, which is open on Thursday, has sent the following messages to students, faculty and staff regarding concerns about travel to campus.

To Students

Students who live off campus and feel that they cannot safely make it to class Thursday should send an email message to the professor for each class that they will miss; only students who have contacted the professor in advance will be granted an excused absence.

Students are encouraged to consider public transportation. DART is expected to be fully functional tomorrow morning and the Mustang Express runs from Mockingbird Station to campus ( http://www.dart.org/riding/mustangexpress.asp ).

To Faculty

SMU will be open at regular business hours beginning Thursday, Feb 3. Faculty are expected to be in their classes and meet their office hours tomorrow and Friday. As a reminder, there is a shuttle from Mockingbird Station to campus ( http://www.dart.org/riding/mustangexpress.asp ). Students who live off campus and feel that they cannot make it to class will be granted an excused absence only if they contact the professor for the class in advance.

To Staff

SMU will open at regular business hours beginning Thursday, Feb. 3. Staff are expected to report to their offices as scheduled.

If someone lives in an area that is affected by bad weather and feels that travel to campus would be an unreasonable safety risk, that individual should contact his or her supervisor to discuss possible options.
