SMU law professor says Casey Anthony verdict not a surprise

SMU Law Professor Jeff Bellin says he was not surprised that a Florida jury found Casey Anthony not guilty of murdering her daughter because the prosecution did not make its case.

SMU Law Professor Jeff BellinJeff Bellin, an assistant professor in SMU's Dedman School of Law, told KLIF radio Tuesday he was not surprised that a Florida jury found Casey Anthony not guilty Tuesday of murdering her daughter in a trial that had garnered national attention for weeks.

Bellin, an expert in in the areas of evidence, criminal law and criminal procedure, told KLIF host Chris Krok that he had been following the trial and knew all along "it was a much closer case than the media was suggesting. . .  I was not surprised the jury came back with a not guilty verdict on the major counts."
