DALLAS (SMU) - On the heels of its 2009 Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Championship and Conference USA Western Division Co-Championship, SMU today announced its 2010 football schedule. Four home games in September and two ESPN games highlight the 12-game regular-season slate.
The season opener at Texas Tech will air on national TV, with ESPN broadcasting the Sunday, Sept. 5, game. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. CT.
SMU will then host three straight home games, opening Conference USA play on Sept. 11 against UAB. The Mustangs will then look to avenge an overtime loss from 2009 when Washington State comes to Dallas on Sept. 18.
ESPN will come to Gerald J. Ford Stadium on Friday, Sept. 24, when rival TCU crosses the Metroplex for the annual Battle for the Iron Skillet. The SMU-TCU game is set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
SMU will look to retain the Mayors' Cup in an Oct. 2 trip to Rice before Tulsa comes to Dallas for an Oct. 9 meeting with the Mustangs.
SMU will then travel east looking to avenge another 2009 overtime loss when the Mustangs face Navy in Annapolis on Oct. 16.
After sharing the 2009 C-USA Western Division Championship, SMU and Houston will battle it out on the gridiron on Oct. 23 in Dallas.
The Mustangs then hit the road for a pair of games, traveling to New Orleans to take on Tulane on Oct. 30 and then to El Paso to face UTEP on Nov. 6.
Following an off week, SMU will host Marshall in its regular-season home finale on Nov. 20.
