A state district court judge hearing a lawsuit between SMU and former owners of condominiums acquired by the University said Friday he will consider a motion for summary judgment in the case on Sept. 18.
SMU appreciates the action of Judge Martin Hoffman in expediting a summary judgment hearing regarding the enforcement of the agreed-upon settlement. The University looks forward to an end to this long merry-go-round of litigation led by two plaintiffs who seem to have little regard for the educational goals of a nonprofit institution.
“They are going after additional resources that are being used by SMU to educate students, give scholarships and serve the community,” said Lisa Blue, an attorney representing SMU. “It’s time for these extortion attempts to end.”
