Collection Development Policy

Bridwell Library Special Collections emphasizes the development of our holdings in modern and contemporary artists' books and fine printing, renewing a focus established by the library's first director, Decherd Turner.

Current efforts seek to expand representation of women and people of color while building on existing strengths. Future development priorities will seek to represent the global history of printing beyond Europe, especially the authorship, publication, and production of printed materials by indigenous peoples as they gained agency and access to production. Long-range plans will further include proactively identifying select, historically significant publications that will enhance the existing holdings.
