Using the Collections

Open by appointment Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., closed noon – 1 p.m.

Special Collections are not available on days the library is closed.

Permission to use Special Collections and Archives material is granted to registered readers. Readers must complete a registration form each year and provide photo ID and current address.

Requesting Materials

Readers may use only materials needed for their immediate research. Indicate which materials you would like to use when you schedule your appointment.

Materials are to be used in the Turner Reading Room and not removed. You may use digital cameras, laptops, and pencils in the Reading Room.

If you are unable to visit us in person, librarians can answer basic questions and provide scans or photocopies for some related material.

Many collections have guides or finding aids. A link to the finding aid can be found in the library catalog record, or at Texas Archival Resources Online (TARO).

Class Visits

We will work with you to integrate relevant materials into class sessions, which we can host on our second floor. In the past we have taught sessions for such varied disciplines as art history, biblical studies, marketing, church music, and world languages.

Contact us to schedule a reference interview or discuss a class visit.
