Sofia Chalamidas

Sofia Chalamidas is a Political Communication major at Southern Methodist University with a minor in American Politics and a member of the SMU Pre-Law Scholars Program. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, she is committed to pursuing a career in law and public service focused on state-level governance in the American Southwest.

At SMU, Sofia has strengthened her legal and policy foundation through programs such as Hilltop-on-the-Hill in Washington, D.C., and the Lex Fellowship. She serves as Secretary of Women in Law and is a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Society. Her professional experience includes internships in trade and customs consulting, environmental advocacy, and policy research, where she developed skills in regulatory analysis and strategic communication.

Sofia plans to attend law school and ultimately serve in public leadership, applying legal training to strengthen institutions and advance effective, accountable governance in New Mexico."
