Olufemi Omotayo

Olufemi (Femi) Omotayo is a senior at Southern Methodist University majoring in Political Science and History. Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, and McKinney, Texas, she has been actively involved on campus, serving as Senior Advisor of the African Student Association, DEI Director and African American Senator in the Student Senate, a research assistant for the Voices of SMU Oral History Project, and Student Programming Coordinator for Kathy Crow Commons.

Her academic and professional interests center on international affairs, U.S.-Africa relations, and community advocacy. After graduation, Femi plans to pursue a master’s degree in international affairs or U.S. foreign policy and national security. She aspires to work for an NGO or think tank, focusing on advancing research, policy, and engagement related to U.S.-Africa relations.
