New Faculty

Clinical Professor of Marketing 

Gary Orosy’s teaching spans marketing fundamentals, pricing strategy and global marketing management. He brings these perspectives to undergraduate and graduate courses at SMU Cox and holds an MBA from Cornell University. 

Associate Professor of Management, Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Dean’s Distinguished Research Professor 

Betty Zhou studies leadership, teams, workplace relationships and new employee onboarding. Previously a tenured associate professor at Texas A&M University, she brings research supported by the National Science Foundation to her teaching in strategic human capital management.

Clinical Professor of Marketing 

Ivan Lapuka brings experience in marketing education and consulting across banking, automotive retail and consumer goods. Previously a senior lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis, he focuses on marketing strategy for businesses serving both consumers and other businesses. 

Professor of Practice in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Co-Executive Director of the Hart Institute for Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship 

Seth Orsborn helps innovators develop ideas and bring them to market. His experience includes leading SMU’s Deason Innovation Gym and developing North American vehicle strategy for Toyota and Lexus. He mentors entrepreneurs across SMU and the Dallas–Fort Worth region. 

Clinical Assistant Professor of Finance 

Stephen Owen brings expertise in investments, financial data analytics and machine learning to SMU Cox. Previously an assistant professor at the University of North Texas, he studies asset markets and portfolio optimization and explores the use of artificial intelligence in finance education.
