Biography

Cristin Espinosa graduated from SMU in 2020 with a B.A. in journalism and a minor in arts entrepreneurship. She assisted SMU Intersessions with their marketing and social media strategy as a student worker.

Espinosa was also heavily involved with student-run media. She served as an editor and digital media producer for The Daily Campus and was an executive producer for SMU-TV. During her last semester, Espinosa earned a reporting fellowship at The Dallas Morning News, where she wrote for the food column.

Following graduation, Espinosa began her graduate studies in Media Management at Arkansas State University, which focused on digital and social media management.

During her master's program, she produced three detailed research papers about Gen Z audiences, their social media habits and how they consume news. She continued her passion for storytelling as a digital intern for The Texas Observer and as a freelance reporter for The Dallas Morning News before completing her master's degree in December of 2021.

Espinosa went on to serve audiences at KERA — the North Texas PBS and NPR member station. She worked as a digital producer for Think, a national radio show and podcast, where she produced podcasts, social media content, blog posts, e-newsletters and other web content.

When she's not researching the latest social media trends, Espinosa enjoys watching true crime documentaries and cuddling with her 10-year-old cat, Stella.
