How to Apply
In addition to applying to SMU, students interested in majoring in Music, Dance and Theatre must also complete an audition for the Meadows School of the Arts. Students interested in majoring in Art or in the Film and Media Arts B.F.A. program must submit a portfolio. By completing these additional steps, Music, Dance, Theatre and Art majors, as well as Film and Media Arts B.F.A. candidates, are eligible for artistic merit scholarship in addition to academic scholarship.

Application to SMU:
Early Action: November 1
Regular Decision: January 15
Transfer Applicants: Visit smu.edu/apply
Audition Requests (Music, Dance, Theatre):
Audition requests may be made after August 1.
Studio Art Portfolio Submission:
Early Action Applicants: November 15
Regular Decision Applicants: February 1
Transfer Applicants: Rolling Admission
*Film and Media Arts Portfolio Submission:
Early Action Applicants: November 15
Regular Decision Applicants: February 8
*Please note that only students interested in the B.F.A program are required to submit a film portfolio. Students interested in the B.A. program are not required to submit a portfolio. For more information about the two degree programs, please see the Film and Media Arts page.
Financial Aid Forms:
FAFSA & CSS Profile forms or waivers are due February 15
