Hometown: Stafford, VA
Delainey Hinson is a junior President’s Scholar and is double majoring in Biological Sciences and Human Rights, with a minor in English. At SMU, she serves as a Philanthropy Coordinator with Student Foundation, is on the executive team of the Emergency Readiness Club, and conducts research in the Hibshman lab. She also volunteers with the Vickery Meadows Foundation Youth Development Center and the Women in Science and Engineering Club. After graduation, she hopes to attend medical school and become a doctor, where she will advocate for equitable healthcare and address disparities in treatment.
Delainey joined the Maguire Center Student Advisory Board because she is interested in the intersection of human rights education and the responsibility that universities have to shape thoughtful and responsible leaders. Through her time on the board, she hopes to help the center improve access to resources that support ethics education, foster open dialogue, and create spaces where all students feel empowered.
