Master of Science Students
M.S. in Accounting
The curriculum of the Master of Science in Accounting program is designed to provide students with an in-depth examination of critical accounting, tax and financial issues. Students will take a total of 31 - 40 credit hours in a full-time or part-time format. Of the required hours, 22 must be in accounting courses and the credit hours are determinate on which track the student chooses.
M.S. in Business Analytics
The SMU Cox MS in Business Analytics curriculum combines rigorous coursework in predictive analytics, data mining, decision models and programming with hands-on experience through internships or capstone projects, preparing students to translate data into actionable business insights. Students complete a total of 33 credit hours (25 core credits, 8 elective credits) in a full-time or part-time format.
M.S. in Finance
The curriculum of the Master of Science in Finance program is designed to transform students' understanding of business and the global economy, equipping them with the skills and relationships needed to succeed in the financial services marketplace. Students complete 34 credits hours (24 core credits, 10 elective credits) in a full-time or part-time format.
M.S. in Management
The curriculum of the Master of Science in Management program is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of business along with the marketing, financial and strategic planning tools needed to assume leadership positions. Students take 32 credit hours in a full-time, part-time or online format.
M.S. in Real Estate
The SMU Cox MS in Real Estate curriculum delivers a rigorous foundation in finance, economics, law and risk management, complemented by hands-on training in industry tools and practical experience through internships or capstone projects. Students complete 31 credit hours (prerequisites may be required) in a full-time or part-time format.
M.S. in Energy and Sustainability Management
The Master of Science in Energy and Sustainability Management program combines traditional energy business foundations with emerging sustainable business practices to equip the next generation of business managers with the skills to develop and maintain environmentally sustainable business solutions. Students who pursue this degree select from three Tracks – Accounting, Finance or Operations – which will prepare them for careers in analytics, consulting, energy finance, ESG operations, NGO management and more. The 32-credit hour program offers full-time and part-time enrollment options.
M.S. in Sports Management
The M.S.S.M. degree is offered jointly by the Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development and the Cox School of Business. The program is designed for students who have a passion for the business of sport and who aspire to hold senior-management positions in the multibillion dollar sports industry.
The M.S.S.M. degree is a full-time, 12-month program. The program is led by sport management professionals with decades of executive experience in a wide range of segments, including professional leagues and teams, media and broadcasting, marketing and sponsorship, facilities and sports equipment, and apparel. Students will learn important business skills from Cox faculty. Each 16-week term is divided into two eight-week modules, with courses being offered in the evenings and on Saturdays.
